Situated on 18 lush green acres half way between Tin Can Bay and Gympie on the Tin Can Bay road. Surrounded by the pine forest on two sides and pasture paddocks on the others, the park site has an abundance of trees attracting many species of birdlife.
With the picturesque mountains in the near distance, StandDown is the ideal place for you to park your rig and rest while exploring the many attractions of the area.
Starting at the park, the forestry is a great place for either brisk or leisurely walks where you see a variety of wildlife and plant life.
Tin Can Bay is just 24kms down the road where the water is clear and calm, an ideal spot for a tinnie, fishing and picnicking. The dolphins play there regularly. Tin Can Bay has a great golf course and Country Club, bowls club and yacht club which is right on the water, all of which serve tempting meals. Lees Fishing Co. is a great source of delicious fresh seafood. Tin Can Bay has all the essential services while retaining the quiet village image.
Twenty kilometres south along the coast is Rainbow Beach which is the gateway to Fraser Island. The shopping centre is right on the beach and has the atmosphere of a coastal resort offering boutiques and essential services.
To the west of StandDown 24kms, the historic town of Gympie is built on the gold mine hills. The Gold Mine Museum tells the whole story and there is a tour of an underground gold mine you can take. Gympie is renound for the Country Music Muster on the last weekend of August and the Gold Rush Festival in mid October.
StandDown is in the process of being developed. Stage one caters mainly for 'stand alone' motorhomes and vans, though everyone is welcome and we will see that you are comfortably situated. Ample shady spaces and water is available along with BBQ facilities and Happy Hour is a must.
